Google Ads Ask Advisor: AI Insights and Dashboards Guide

Quick answer

Google Ads now combines three AI-assisted surfaces: personalized homepage insight cards, a prompt box for account questions, and visual Dashboards generated from text requests. Ask Advisor provides the conversational path for investigating performance, policy issues, creative suggestions, and proposed account changes.

Treat all three as investigation aids, not autonomous campaign authority. Ask Advisor is still beta and eligibility-gated, is not currently available in MCC accounts, and can prepare suggestions that require user approval. A dashboard summary can accelerate review, but it does not prove causality, data quality, or that a proposed budget, bid, targeting, creative, or policy change is safe.

What changed on August 10

Google’s August 10, 2026 announcement added or expanded several connected workflows:

  • The Google Ads homepage surfaces personalized AI-powered insight cards.
  • A prompt box above the cards can generate a custom insight about the account.
  • Dashboards turn text prompts into visual reports and generate a real-time summary.
  • Ask Advisor carries account context into a deeper conversational investigation.

The same announcement says Dashboards are coming soon to Google Analytics. Do not use the Google Ads launch as evidence that the Analytics dashboard surface is already enabled in a particular property.

What Ask Advisor can do

Google Ads Help describes Ask Advisor as optimized for Google Ads questions. Documented examples include:

  • explaining changes in campaign performance;
  • troubleshooting performance or ads-policy issues;
  • identifying areas for improvement;
  • suggesting text and image creative;
  • answering questions about account data; and
  • preparing suggested changes for the user to approve.

Availability is visible through the Ask Advisor-Beta icon in an eligible account. If the icon is absent, first check account eligibility and account type; do not assume a browser, permission, or configuration defect.

Use a review-first workflow

1. Define the decision

Start with a question that names the account, campaign, metric, time window, comparison, and decision. “Why did performance change?” is too broad. “Which measured factors coincide with the conversion-rate decline in Campaign A from August 1–7 versus the previous matched week?” creates a reviewable scope.

2. Verify the measurement surface

Check conversion definitions, attribution settings, currency, timezone, campaign status, filters, consent and tagging changes, import freshness, and known incidents. An articulate answer cannot repair an invalid comparison.

3. Separate observation from explanation

Record the reported change and supporting dimensions first. Treat generated “why” language as a hypothesis until it is consistent with the underlying report, change history, experiment record, and relevant external context.

4. Inspect every proposed change

For budget, bid, audience, asset, URL, policy, or targeting suggestions, capture the exact object, current value, proposed value, expected effect, spend exposure, owner, rollback condition, and approval. Google explicitly makes the user responsible for checking accepted suggestions.

5. Measure after implementation

Use a predefined window and guardrails. Do not attribute a later result to the suggestion without an appropriate experiment or comparison design.

Dashboard review checklist

CheckWhy it matters
Prompt and questionPreserves what the dashboard was asked to answer
Account and campaign scopePrevents a useful chart for the wrong entity
Metric definitionKeeps conversions, value, cost, and rates interpretable
Date and comparisonExposes seasonality and partial-period errors
Filters and breakdownsMakes omissions and aggregation choices visible
Source reportLets a reviewer reconcile generated visuals with account data
Summary claimsSeparates observations from causal or prescriptive language
Change ownerPrevents a report from silently becoming execution authority

Limits to preserve

  • Ask Advisor is beta and may have capability limitations.
  • Access depends on account eligibility.
  • Google Ads Help says MCC accounts are not currently supported.
  • Generated images may come from the landing page or be generated by Google AI; review accuracy, brand fit, policy, and rights before use.
  • A suggested change is not an approved change.
  • A chart or generated summary is not an experiment result.
  • Product access does not establish that Flowith or any other third-party account has the same surface.
